Misty Sorenson, CSW

Hi, I’m Misty,

Mental Health Therapist | Certified Social Worker | Master of Social Work

Resiliency is the ability to overcome challenges. I am passionate about helping you build resilience. You can learn coping skills, nurture support systems, build tolerance to distress, confidence, and find inner strength in therapy. Resilience is key for helping improve symptoms related to depression, anxiety and trauma.

I am passionate about helping women improve their body image. If you have felt obsessed with how you look or what you need to do to get the “perfect” body, I am here for you. Body obsessions are exhausting and leads to more anxiety and depression. If you are ready for help in trying to break out of this thought pattern, I am here to support you in that journey. You will feel more present and spend your energy on things that are more important, like relationships, school, or career as we work together.

I have worked in social work in a variety of settings including outpatient mental health and in skilled nursing facilities working with geriatric populations. I’ve always been passionate about body image and eating disorders. I’ve taken additional courses including ACT approaches to body image and eating disorders to expand my ability to help clients.

My undergraduate is from Utah State University with degrees in social work and sociology (2005).  I received my Masters in social work from University of Nevada, Las Vegas (2009).

My favorite things are knitting, kayaking, hiking, reading, learning, cross country skiing, and watching my kids having fun.
