How to become resilient when struggling with your mental health

Struggling with mental health such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders or trauma can be incredibly difficult, but it's important to remember that you're not alone. There are many ways to become more resilient when dealing with mental health struggles. Here are a few tips to get you started:

  1. Reach out for help: Talking to a trusted friend, family member, or mental health professional can be incredibly helpful. They can provide you with support, resources, and guidance, and help you feel less isolated.

  2. Practice self-care: Taking care of yourself is crucial when dealing with mental health struggles. This can include getting enough sleep, eating well, joyful movement, and doing activities that make you happy and relaxed. When life gets stressful please remember to take care of yourself. When life gets stressful a lot of times we forget to take care of ourselves. Self care can be as simple as sitting down to eat a snack so that your body has fuel, taking a walk, or even taking a moment to just breath. It’s ok to take a moment or two for yourself. In fact I would highly suggest it. By remembering to take care of yourself it will help you to build resilience and help you to manage your stress better.

  3. Build a support system: Surrounding yourself with positive and supportive people can help you feel more resilient. Joining a support group or finding a community of people who understand what you're going through can also be helpful. Making connections is one of the best tips that I can give to someone to help them become resilient when they are struggling with their mental health. When struggling with your mental health sometimes the last thing that you want to do is reach out to someone. It’s scary and it can take a lot of courage. However reaching out to someone you can trust can help you to receive the love and support that you need. If you are struggling with your mental health I encourage you to make those connections and reach out to someone today.

  4. Focus on your strengths: It's easy to get caught up in negative thoughts and feelings when struggling with mental health. Try to focus on your strengths and accomplishments instead. Remind yourself of your successes, no matter how small they may seem.
